DESCRIPTION
***********

Have you ever had the desire to create a horoscope for you, your friends
and acquaintances without being forced to go far out of your ways ?

If you are in possession of a computer with a version of Windows 3.1 and
your printer is able to print in graphic mode, then you will be delighted
by this program. The making of your personal horoscope then becomes pretty
easy.

It is possible to produce the data on both the monitor or by using the
printer. This all happens by full utilization of your Windows features.

The evaluations and graphical presentation of the horoscope can be printed
in all of the various fonts and sizes. You can adjust the program to suit
your personal needs.

You can choose between three house systems; it is possible for all of the
aspects to be individually selected and the orbs can be chosen according to
your wishes.

The evaluations are divided into eleven parts which again can be either
individually inserted or excluded.

For example: the graphical presentation of the horoscope, data presented in
tabular form, planets in signs, aspects between the planets etc.

A complete evaluation uses about 30 pages of A 4 paper.

The program functions well not only on a single terminal but also on an
local network (Novell). The following data stocks come along with the
version 1.1: two databases, one with the data of seven personalities, and
the second with the data of about 1680 cities all over the World and a
complete online help system with about 47 KB.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
*******************

Usually if you run Windows these days it is a lot more practical to do this
in the 386 enhanced mode with 4 MB RAM and hopefully with a 33 or 40
megahertz processor, if not even on a 486.

The library "commdlg.dll" which comes with Windows 3.1 is used for the
print controlling. This file should be installed in the Windows - system
directory.

INSTALLATION
************

The complete package comes on 1 to 3 disks. Place the first disk in drive A
and type

a: < enter >
install  < enter >

The installation program will then ask you for the directory name under
which the astrology program should be installed. The path "C:\ASTRO" is
proposed as a default value. You can accept this name for the directory or
of course change it if you wish to do so. Remember that there must be at
least 1.8 MB available on your hard disk drive. In the very unlikely case
that anything should go wrong with the installation, it is also possible to
install the program by hand:

- Create the target directory that you want ( e.g. "C:\ASTRO" ).
- Copy the data "astro01.pak", "astro02.pak" and  "astro03.pak" into the
  target directory.
- Change the .pak files into .exe files:
         rename *.pak *.exe
  These 3 .exe files are self decompressing ZIP files.
- Start the three programs astro01.EXE - astro03.EXE ( the installation
  routine does exactly the same as this.)

Start Windows and include the program astro.exe into the Program Manager. You
can find out how this works from the Windows reference manual. If at this
point you need more help you can go directly to the online help system by
"winhelp astro.hlp".


PROBLEMS, TROUBLESHOOTING
*************************

Most of the problems, which have so far been reported to me by users, are
with respect to the printing of the evaluations. If the printer doesn't
respond at all, then read the chapter 'Installation' in the online help
system. If there are mistakes in the printout e.g. if the type font is too
small, distorted graphics, the wrong character fonts etc., then read the
chapter "troubleshooting / known problems" in the online-help. For example
HP-Deskjet-Printers do behave quite funny if an old printer driver is
installed!

In the case that the online system has not helped you and you need my
support, then I ask you to do the following: print out the troubleshooting
form "tblshoot.txt" and the ordering form "register.txt", fill them in and
then send both of them to me. If it is a problem caused by a mistake in the
program, then you will be registered at no cost.
Although it must be added that this program has already gone well in the
German speaking countries and initial mistakes have been rectified. So that
you as an English speaking user are receiving the benefits of this improved
package.

REGISTRATION
************

The astrology program is a shareware program according to the decisions of
the association of shareware professionals (ASP). You may test this
completely unlimited working version over a period of 30 days. If you enjoy
the program, then we ask that you please be so kind as to register for a
fee of US$ 55 / CAN$ 65 / £ 35, since man cannot live by bread alone!

You can print out the ordering form exactly for this purpose (program -
option 'About'). As a registered user you will be automatically informed about
updates and new products. Since we like to keep you happy we are working
intensivly on extras coming along your way.


COMING UP

At the moment, version 2.0 is in preparation - features including transits
and partnership astrology (synastry with about 250 KB of evaluation-text!).
Since Version 1.1 is not restricted in any way (!), the only chance for
me to encourage users to register is to provide the latest updates only to
those, who have registered. As a registered user you will be able to
purchase version 2.0 in august/septenber 93 while non-registered users may
get stuck with version 1.1 until 3 month later when registered users will
already be in possession of version 2.1.

So far the program has been sold on the German market for nearly 8 months.
In this period our users have expressed their desire for the following
features.

- Editable evaluation (various word-processor formats)
- Printing in colour
- Astro-medicine
- Bach Flower Remedies

to name but a few. Registered users may take influence on the further
program-development by stating which of the features mentioned above would
represent their priority.


DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
***********************

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying
it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected
to register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request
registration while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period.
With registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using
the software to an updated program with printed manual.

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the

and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific

implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchantability
and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no liability for
damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the use of
ASTROWORLD."

ASTROWORLD is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the
user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but please do
not give it away altered or as part of another system. The essence of
"user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users with
quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find this program
useful and find that you are using ASTROWORLD and continue to use
ASTROWORLD after a reasonable trial period, you must make a registration
payment (see above). The registration fee will license one copy for
use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just
like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so
long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's
being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different
persons at the same time.

Commercial users of ASTROWORLD must register and pay for their copies of
ASTROWORLD within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.

astrological pondering, I'm afraid you won't be able to file a libel suit.
